I encourage you to make, with me, a 33-day preparation for consecration to St. Joseph, which will take place on May 1st (the feast of St. Joseph the Worker). I’m using Fr. Donald Calloway’s fine book Consecration to St. Joseph. Each day’s reading takes about seven or eight minutes, and I render full credit for these thoughts, respecting copyright laws, to Fr. Donald H. Calloway, author of the book.
Day Six
Heaven is a family. Perfect happiness is being part of a communion of persons. The most essential transcendental is “home.” Mother Teresa would say: “you and I were created for greater things: to love and be loved.” In heaven, this perfect communion of love is what we call the Holy Trinity. It is imperfectly reflected on earth in what we call the “family.” To become part of the Holy Trinity in heaven we must become part of the trinitarian family on earth. God made St. Joseph head of the Holy Family (Jesus, Mary, and Joseph) on earth. Fr. Calloway writes that Our Father Joseph “will teach us how to love, pray, sacrifice, and work” in our earthly families so as to enter easily into God’s Holy Family in heaven. Joseph will lead us home as he led the Holy Family home.
